EAOHAWAII is a not-for-profit, Native Hawaiian Organization recognized by the Department of Interior (DOI). EAOHAWAII was established and operates on the island of Kauaʻi to serve Native Hawaiians across Hawaiʻi and continental United States.

We work hand-in-hand with trusted local community leaders and businesses across Hawaiʻi to help their communities organize to preserve and cherish all sources and records of Hawaiian culture and traditions.

WHAT IS AN NHO?


A Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO) is any community service organization serving Native Hawaiians which is a not-for-profit organization chartered by the State of Hawaii, is controlled by Native Hawaiians, and whose business activities will principally benefit such Native Hawaiians.

HOW WE SERVE

OUR CAPABILITIES

Companies owned by economically disadvantaged Native Hawaiian Organizations (NHO) are eligible for participation in the 8(a) program and other federal programs requiring SBA to determine social and economic disadvantage as a condition of eligibility. Such companies must meet all eligibility criteria set forth in §§ 124.101 through 124.108 and § 124.112 to the extent that they are not inconsistent with § 124.110.


EAOHAWAII welcomes any Companies, for-profit organization(s) interested in benefiting and serving the Native Hawaiian community; whom meet all eligibility criteria set forth in §§ 124.101 through 124.108 and § 124.112 to the extent that they are not inconsistent with § 124.110.

Lā Kūʻokoʻa is a kingdom holiday that was first celebrated in 1843 to commemorate Hawaiʻi’s sovereignty and independence. That was the year when the United States, Britain, and France officially recognized Hawaiian independence due to the efforts of the kingdom’s first diplomat Timoteo Haʻalilio and his associate Williiam Richards. Though Haʻalilio passed away on the return voyage to Hawaiʻi, they were successful in their mission, and the independence of Hawaiʻi was celebrated for the next five decades.

A Native Hawaiian Organization is a not-for-profit group that advocates for the betterment of the Hawaiian people and their culture. They work to preserve Hawaiian customs and traditions while also working to improve the quality of life for Hawaiians. Some of the issues that Native Hawaiian Organizations focus on include education, health care, land rights, and environmental protection.
